Hi friends! I know it has been awhile since I have written but I wanted to fill you in on the rest of my time spent in Mozambique. Our second excursion was to a coastal region called Chacas. On the bus ride I sat next to young Andrew, who is 19 years old and going to college in the states (We called him young Andrew not to get confused with Andrew the owner of the farm). He is hands down one of the most interesting people I have ever met and I really enjoyed getting to know him. We arrived friday night and all stayed in little huts along the beach, I COULD HEAR THE WAVES FROM MY ROOM. Completely peaceful. We went to dinner with all the farm families that generously hosted us for the weekend. After dinner we all went down to the beach to explore. By the end of the night Claire, Caleb, Elliot, Austin, Patrick and I were playing a game we came up with called crab roulette. Patrick and Caleb would catch some crabs and we would all sit in a circle, knee to knee, and then they would let the crabs go and whoever moved first lost. I'm a big baby and would always be the first one to jump up haha. The next morning we woke up early and ate breakfast and then went snorkeling. I saw a lot of really cool fish including a lion and puffer! The beach was beautiful. With white sand and various shades of blue in the waves this place was paradise. We went back for lunch and then had free time were some of us hung out with the kids and played games. Soon enough we walked down the beach to where Wilfred and Carola have property. We played some competitive games of sand volleyball for awhile (I actually didn't do completely awful) and then had dinner on the beach. Dinner was incredible to say the least. It consisted of fresh rock fish, lobster, rice cooked inside pumpkins, and beans. The food was cooked in foil on top of hot coals. During dinner we all sat around a fire and enjoyed the amazing food. After dinner young Andrew brought out his guitar and played music which was amazing. The whole atmosphere of the night felt like home and will be a time I will always want to go back to. I was sitting next to Jenn who lives on the farm with her husband and two beautiful kids. Jenn asked me if Mozambique had been everything I had expected and while explaining I eventually told her about my dad and how I felt that it will be hard to go back home and deal with this reality I have been struggling with. I saw tears in her eyes swell as she told me she lost her parents at a young age too. There are distinct moments in life where I have felt God put someone in my life for a reason and my conversation with Jenn was just that. She generously let me use her phone to call my mom because it was my parents anniversary. I will never forget the kindness and love Jenn showed me that night and I am so blessed to made such a special friend here in Nampula. I walked back to the huts we were staying in with Andrew and he taught me a few constalations such as the southern cross and scorpio. THIS WAS SO COOL. Now I just have to learn some in the northern hemisphere haha. Chacas was such a peaceful place where I could feel so much of God's presence in the people and gorgous scenery. The next morning Craig, Emily, Caitlyn and I woke up at about 4:45 to watch the sunrise which was completely worth it. I have never seen something with so much radiant color as I did on that beach that morning. It was completely breathtaking. Wilfred cooked us pancakes for breakfast and they were soooooo fluffy!!! After breakfast we had a small church service on the porch which Andrew led. I have never met someone with such passion in his words as Andrew. He shared with us how important it is to view the world the way God views the world and not just the way America views the world or the way Africa views the world. Young Andrew then played some songs and I remember as I was singing I was holding back tears because of how much love I was surrounded by. I have never felt Gods presence so strong. We left Chacas with full tummys and full hearts preparing ourselves for our final week spent in Mozambique.
